GREETINGS FROM THE EAST

My Brothers,

Summer has slipped away but not without a lot of hard work and effort being expended by the craft to exit the building at 863 Hopmeadow Street. My sincerest thanks to all who helped in making that move happen. Special thanks to WB Guy O. Whelchel, III for leading the move effort. I heard yesterday that the building at 863 Hopmeadow has been torn down, and we hope the fire district and the community of Simsbury benefit greatly from the sacrifice of our Lodge home to the greater good.

 SOME VERY IMPORTANT UPDATES. In order to keep our Lodge functioning within our jurisdictional area (Granby/Simsbury/Bloomfield) and to cut operating costs (especially insurance costs at 19 East Granby Road) for the next several months, it was decided at a Building Association Meeting held on July13 that, instead of utilizing the Lodge facilities of Village #29 in Collinsville, we have re-opened the 19 East Granby Road (Route 20) Building and will hold our meetings there until such time as a new Lodge home is ready for us.  I have requested, and received Dispensation from The Grand Master for this change of venue.

 MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Monday, October 19, 2009 at 7:30 PM. We’ll be having a Special Communication and Ceremony to open, view and share the contents of the Cornerstone which was retrieved from the now extinct Lodge Hall at 863 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury! My sources tell me that cornerstone was originally laid in 1952. This is a very exciting event and I hope you will all plan to attend to share in this very unique and rare experience! Dress Code is Casual and Lodge is open to Masons, family and friends.

 I’m happy to say that in spite of our nomadic situation of late, we are still growing! We have (3) new EA Brothers who will proceeding to MM on Nov 7 at 4PM in a combined degree with Village #26 This degree will be held at Collinsville, and we will hold a rehearsal on the same day at 10AMfor those participating.
